You need to be a US citizen or legal permeant resident who has been in the US for at least 5 years and must be over 65 years old or have been deemed disabled by the Social Security Administration.
You can sign up for Medicare 3 months before the month you turn 65 to 3 months after. (Total 7 months)
Medicare late enrollment penalties are penalties applied if you do not sign up when you are first eligible for Medicare. You may have to pay a higher premium.
